A course consisting of 8 two - hour sessions running on: Fridays morning from 10:00 to 12:00 and evening from 19:30 to 21:30.
1. Integrating pronunciation into classroom activities
Pronunciation work can be kept simple and employ exercises which are both accessible and enjoyable for students, whatever their level. Whenever students do a freer speaking activity, the main aim is usually for them to develop their spoken fluency in the language. However, the activity also serves to work on students' accuracy through the feedback we give them on their use of language.
2. Integrating English into the Curriculum: CLIL
The aim of the workshop is to provide motivating and challenging activities and materials to integrate English into the curriculum.
Through a series of worthwhile activities, teachers will discover how to encourage children to develop their intellectual, motor (physical) and social skills and to give their students the opportunity to bring their knowledge of the world into the classroom, and to extend their general knowledge of the topic under focus.
3. Creativity in the Classroom: Arts and Crafts with young learners
Children learn by doing. When they are involved in art and crafts and design activities, language can play a key part. In this workshop we will provide teachers with a wide range of activities to let children experience the new language as an important tool to be used in meaningful and enjoyable situations.
4. Tales as tools: The Power of Story in the Classroom
This workshop explores a range of story telling techniques that teachers can use in the classroom and gives a starting point from which they can develop ideas of their own. Different stories that can be used to teach not only language but also content, pronunciation and getting students ready to put stories on a public performance.
5. How to use the Whiteboard
Interactive whiteboards are gaining in popularity in schools, helping teachers to increase learning opportunities in the classroom facilitating motivation, participation and concentration.
6. Children’s Creative Theatre: Games and Drama activities
Aimed at Kindergarten and primary level language teachers who are interested in introducing, or developing drama as an extra dimension in their teaching and to provide a starting point from which teachers can develop ideas of their own. Different drama activities to work magic in the English classroom.
7. Word Play for kids: teaching children Grammar
Practical and fun grammar activities to make children use and understand grammar in an easy way. We will introduce you to a range of grammar teaching techniques that you can adapt to your own teaching situation.
8. Song as a Tool for Content Area Learning
Music can create and activate "prior knowledge". We learn most effectively when we already know something about a subject. It's easier, and a lot more fun to rehearse song than text! Music and song stimulate creativity and foster a positive attitude towards school.
We will provide teachers with different ideas and techniques to teach Children English and content through music.
